Culinar nominated for prestigious food prize

PRESS RELEASE

The Swedish foodstuffs company Culinar, headquartered in Kristianstad in southern Sweden, has been nominated for the Innovation of the Year award, one of the finest distinctions in the food industry. The prize will be presented at the major Food Ingredients Trade Fair in Frankfurt in November.

The nomination recognizes Culinar’s product Culinax, a flavouring system that opens up completely new possibilities for natural flavouring of such products as snacks, delicatessen items, bread, biscuits and pastries.

“Preserving flavours and aromas in the production process has always been a problem in the food industry,” explains Håkan Christensson, Culinar Marketing and Sales Manager. “Culinax offers two large advantages, namely process durability and a method for releasing the flavours in a natural way.”

Culinax enables the food industry not only to flavour foods in a way that was impossible earlier, but also to develop completely new, modern products that satisfy current expectations for freshness, flavour richness and durability.

The product is a result of an energetic research effort at the Culinar development division. The work is based on Culinar’s long experience with a broad flavour and texture know-how. The Culinax secret lies in protecting the flavours and aromas so that they endure even the toughest processes. This holds true equally for baked goods, delicatessen items, and convenience foods with many different ingredients, as well as snacks and so-called On-the-go products. Culinax is also very beneficial when used in various low-fat products, such as snacks.

“With Culinax the aromas are retained through the entire process and the flavour is then released slowly and naturally. It’s similar to eating an apple – the flavour grows, develops and changes, finally dying down and leaving a pleasant after-taste,” says Håkan Christensson.

The Food Ingredients Excellence Award is awarded to the year’s best innovation in the food industry. Culinar’s new flavour system Culinax is one of the three nominees and the winner will be announced on November 17 at the annual Food Ingredients Trade Fair Europe in Frankfurt.
